We are the number one chess organization in the Brazos valley! There may be imitators, but we are the original!
We believe chess belongs to everyone. Whether you're a beginner discovering your first checkmate or a competitive player preparing for nationals, BVCA provides the instruction, tournaments, and community support you need to thrive.
We've partnered with the City of Bryan, the Bryan+College Station library system, homeschool organizations, and the Texas A&M Chess Club to bring quality chess programming to our community. Through tournaments, coaching, workshops, and clubs, we're building a chess culture that celebrates learning, competition, and connection.
-
The Brazos Valley Chess Association offers comprehensive chess programming designed to meet players where they are—whether you're just learning the basics or competing at the highest levels.
Chess Coaching Personalized instruction tailored to your goals and skill level, available both in-person in the Brazos Valley and online anywhere in the world. Our USCF-certified coaches work with players of all ages, from beginners discovering their first checkmate to competitive players refining their tournament strategy.
Tournament Hosting We organize both USCF-rated tournaments for serious competitors and casual, non-rated events for players who want to test their skills in a friendly environment. Our professionally-run tournaments provide a welcoming atmosphere where players can challenge themselves and connect with the local chess community. We've partnered with the City of Bryan and the Bryan+College Station library system to host tournaments that bring chess to every corner of our community.
Workshops & Group Instruction Perfect for homeschool groups, co-ops, schools, and community organizations, our chess workshops bring the game to your group. We customize curriculum and activities to match your students' ages and experience levels, making chess accessible and exciting for everyone. We've run successful chess clubs for homeschool co-ops and public libraries, and we work closely with the official Texas A&M Chess Club to support collegiate chess in College Station.
Whether you're an individual looking to improve your game or an organization wanting to bring chess to your community, BVCA has a program that fits your needs.
