BVCA July Round Robin

The BVCA hosted its July event on July 11th, 2026. We had about 5 players, so we switched to having 5 rounds instead of 4, and from Swiss to round-robin format - where every player plays each other once. This is designed to produce maximum parity among the players.

It was hotly contested, but it eventually settled out evenly. 1st place went to Lawence M Roberman, with 4.5/5.0 points, who swept the field, a draw to Russell Joel Warapius. 2nd went to Fnu Madhu Leelavathi Narayana, who scored 4.0/5.0 points, and 3rd went to Russell Joel Warapius, who scored 3.0/5.0 points, despite being the lowest rated player in the field! His rating increased by about 130+ points! Kian Arvin Noshadraven and William Gu rounded out the group with 2.0/5.0 points and 1.5/5.0 points, respectively.

We want to shout out Kian Arvin Noshardravan, who played in his first USCF-rated tournament! We are always so happy when we can bring new players the experence of their first tournament.

As always, cash prizes went out to our winners. We to everyone who came out and competed with focus and good sportsmanship, even with the smaller field.

We are so thankful for FBC Bryan being willing to host us! We are happy to continue our partnership with them.

We hope to see more players (and a return to Swiss pairings!) at our next tournament, on August 8th at FBC Bryan.
